Hobart Police Department
The Hobart Police Department (HPD) is responsible for routine law enforcement within Village limits. The department operates under the administrative oversight of the Director of Public Safety, rather than as an independent command authority.
HPD presence is steady but low-profile, with many matters redirected through administrative or civic channels before formal enforcement occurs.
Operational Overview
- Emphasis on incident classification and referral
- Close coordination with Village administration
- Deference to Code Enforcement on structural and compliance matters
- Parking enforcement and traffic control during events and operations
